Competition entry for the senior and tenant meeting place
in the new building project Dallgower Straße, Falkensee by VONOVIA
The senior citizens’ and tenants’ meeting place is a crossroads of different spaces – the public space of the street, the actual building and the garden on the courtyard side meet and interweave to form a spatial sequence of colors.
The interweaving of the spaces is taken up and addressed as a color structure and orientation aid. The street-side entrance areas are kept in light gray, the innermost space in red tones like the facade of the building and the area by the garden takes up the green of the courtyard plants. A light gray linoleum is chosen throughout for the floor covering.
The built-in furniture and the furnishings take up this color theme:
Two group rooms of the senior citizens’ meeting place are kept in red and pink tones, the third group room and the garden furniture in green tones. The tenant meeting place takes up the green of the garden with acoustic curtains on the long sides. The built-in furniture at the entrances are made of light oiled oak.
A deep red hallway, in front of it a light red panel wall and a counter in the same color serve as the background for a wide variety of meetings and activities in the café of the meeting place. Lightly oiled oak tables and upholstered chairs in shades of red liven up the senior citizens’ stage.
The library with reading lounge offers a retreat and a view into the green courtyard.
The tenant meeting place brings life from the street into the space – with the acoustic curtains the space can be divided here and thus encounters of all kinds are possible. Wardrobe and tables are made of light oiled oak.
